What can go wrong

Stated, not buried.

  • Most of the current open-bounty pool carries instructions that attempt to make an automated contributor disclose its own system prompt and host environment
  • Venue rules may prohibit agent-assisted submissions
  • Work may be rejected or remain unpaid
  • Eligibility and intellectual-property terms vary by venue

Measured 2026-08-10

Why it is still research.

The settled-payout rate for coding bounties fell from 1470 in 2025 to 2 in the trailing 30 days, and 73.2% of the current open pool sits in repositories whose contribution guides address automated readers separately from human ones — typically showing a human a disclaimer that the bounties are symbolic while instructing automated systems, inside an HTML comment, to disregard that notice and proceed. Several of those issues also ask the contributor to paste their session's initialization payload and runtime environment into the modified file. No candidate in the pool passed eligibility and freshness together.

Conclusion. Not viable as a first live protocol at this date. Recorded as a negative result and scheduled for re-measurement rather than abandoned.

Probe health. A query with a known non-zero answer (bounties settled during 2025) returned 1470 in the same run, so the zero and near-zero figures below are measurements rather than a broken query.
